Burial Vaults

Burial Vaults

Designed to protect the casket, the burial vault is commonly required by a cemetery to ensure proper grounds maintenance and to avoid the settling of a grave site. While most are made of concrete, today there are many decorative and personal elements a family can choose to include. If you have questions about burial vaults, or any of the other funeral products you see in our online collection, please call us at 773-581-9000.

Outer Burial Containers

There is no state law requiring the use of an outer burial container. All cemeteries require the use of an outer burial container to create a foundation to support the burial of the casket. Some cemeteries sell Grave Boxes. Grave Boxes satisfy this requirement with a 2 piece liner. The casket is placed in the bottom portion and a flat lid is placed on top. The lid does not seal or close. It simply rests on top.

Burial Vaults fulfill the cemetery requirement and also offer other features. Most notably, burial vaults are heavier in construction and having sealing, closing, and reinforced lining values, as well as other aesthetic features.

Lane-Moynihan does not offer Grave Boxes or Liners. We offer only Wilbert Burial Vaults through the American Wilbert Vault Corporation. We provide our most Basic vault for $ 775. This vault is less expensive than most grave liners offered by cemeteries. Following are in-depth descriptions of all of our vaults.
