Joseph Malec Jr.
Joseph Martin Malec Jr., C.P.D. retired, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN.
Joseph was born October 3, 1943 in Chicago to Joseph and Mildred (Sherbert) Malec and lived in the area for 17 years, coming from Chicago.
On April 12, 1965 in Chicago, he married the former Janice Norman, who preceded him in death earlier this year. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Malec and Martin Malec Sr.; one step-daughter, Veronica (Bill) Manos; three step-sons, Kenneth Chapman, Myron Chapman and William Chapman; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene (Emil) Ochodnicky; and three brothers, James Malec, John Malec and Daniel Malec.
Joseph was a policeman with the Chicago Police Department for 30 years. He was a member of St. Dominic Church of Koontz Lake and the Starke County HAM Radio Club.
Resting at CENTRAL CHAPEL, 6158 S. Central Ave., Chicago, IL, where family and friends will gather on Sunday, April 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service Monday, April 16, at 10 a.m. Burial Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.
