Our Team

CENTRAL CHAPEL -- LANE-MOYNIHAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS

Our people make the difference.

Our firm benefits from being among few who post their prices. And we are known for the finest in facilities and the most affordable costs. What brings families time and time to Central Chapel is our team. More clients and consumers today compare funeral homes and cremation services. When people compare, when people discriminate, they stay at Central. We believe in what we do.

Robert J. Moynihan, Funeral and Cremation Director / Owner
Email: RJMoynihan@aol.com
Office Phone: 773-581-9000
Fax: 773-581-9095
Home Phone: 773-581-9000

Founder of Lane-Moynihan Funeral Directors and licensed in 1983, Bob Moynihan is the quintessential funeral director. He came into the funeral business at age 15 without any family history in funeral service. He fervently believes in the value of funeral and memorial services, that every life needs to be honored and that each service needs to be tailored to fit the uniqueness of the individual. At Central Chapel, he has found a way to do that so as to serve families that greatly differ with respect to cultures, financial concerns and location. Bob prides himself on helping people craft the best possible service for their loved ones and demands a level of unsurpassed excellence in all facets of the service so as to continue to strike the standard he learned from his early mentors in funeral service. Bob is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science, National-Louis University, and Catholic Theological Union at Chicago. In his spare time, Bob is a guest speaker at Unity Churches, is an avid writer, has a blog, and enjoys his summer home in Kenosha. Bob is a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule, an-invitation only association of foremost and progressive funeral firms. He is also a certified crematory operator.

Ann Jedlowski, Office Manager
Office Phone: 773-581-9000
Fax: 773-581-9095

Ann Jedlowski is Office Manager at Central Chapel. First and foremost, she is Central Chapel’s Ambassador of Hospitality. She very efficiently manages our office and tends to the many and various telephone calls each day. As organized and efficient as she is, her greatest gifts include her kindness to people and a keen knowledge of people, places and things in the local and extended neighborhood that surround Central Chapel. Ann was born and raised on the Southwest side of Chicago, growing up in the Brighton Park neighborhood.  She is married with two adult sons. Her husband is a retired Assistant Chief Operating Engineer for the City of Chicago, her eldest son is a graduate of Benedictine University, employed by the CTA and her youngest is a graduate of Illinois State University, employed by Northwestern University.  She and her family have been residents of the Garfield Ridge Community for the past 19 years.  Before joining Central Chapel, Ann worked at Rush University Medical Center for over 30 years. There, she managed a physician’s administrative office and his patient clinic. While working at Rush, she attended a variety of evening college classes and with a strong desire to help others, became a registered and certified paramedic.  In her free time, she loves traveling to their summer home in Wisconsin, spend time with family and friends, and last, but not least, long walks with her dog, Duke!

Patti Grzenia, Ambassador
Office Phone: 773-581-9000

Patti Grzenia is a familiar face at Central Chapel as an ambassador and lead wake attendant. She worked for many years at the McKeon Funeral Home in Bridgeport, which closed in 2013. Patti has tremendous gifts for taking care of others and caring for those who grieve. Patti is a lifelong Chicagoan, born raised and thriving still in Bridgeport. She is a parishioner at Nativity of Our Lord Church. She and her husband Phil have two daughters, Laura (Jimmy) and Lisa, and two beautiful grandsons, Jimmy and Jude. Patti’s grandsons are a big part of her life as is Olie, a little Yorkie who she enjoys spoiling and taking long walks. Patti also enjoys bike riding by Lake Michigan during the summer.

LILLY THE WONDER DOG, Canine Grief Support

Meet Miss Lilly. Lilly is a 9 year old Cocker Spaniel/American Eskimo (dog) mix. Bob Moynihan adopted her, or vice versa, in January of 2011. Originally intended to be an upstairs pet in the apartment in which Bob lives, Lilly quickly assumed the role she was born for in the operation of the funeral home. Lilly is not present during services, although she is often invited by families to be present, she is present during ordinary business hours. When families come in to make funeral or cremation arrangements, they have the option of Lilly being present or not. When she is, she often gravitates to the family member who may be most noticeably struggling. Lilly wasn't trained to be a grief therapy dog but sometimes the most important things can't be taught.

DOLLY THE BEAGLE

Hello Dolly! Dolly is a 10 year old Beagle. Bob Moynihan and Lilly extended their family in April of 2015 by adopting Dolly when she needed a change and some TLC. It’s been a two way street. Dolly got an extreme make over in terms of medical care and affection and she has been every bit as generous in what she has given back. Dolly is a mild mannered, easy-going, delightful little dog, who LOVES EVERYONE. The fact that she often appears to be Lilly’s side kick should not fool you. She has a personality and drive all her own that, while moves in slow motion, quickly captivates most people who meet her. Also not a trained grief therapy dog, nonetheless Dolly gives her all to people.

Michele Johnson, THE PET UNDERTAKER
Office Phone: 773-581-9000
Mobile Phone: 708-278-0008

One of the many ways we try to support the community is by referring people that look to us for things we don't actually provide but that are associated with us. Often we are called on to recommend a florist or hotel or restaurant or monument company. Increasingly, people call on us to help them when a pet has died. This is so important...just like selecting a Funeral Director, you want someone reputable, compassionate, dignified, affordable. MICHELE JOHNSON is THE PET UNDERTAKER and founder of LOVING MEMORIAL PET CARE.

Anecdotally, Robert Moynihan, worked with Michele Johnson when he was Managing Partner of Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematory.

Ruben was a truck driver most of his life, retiring from The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 710. Ruben has been very active in CAPS for over 18 years, is an avid photographer and coordinates outings and field trips for the seniors in the 9th District. Prior to joining Central Chapel, Ruben worked at the Dalcamo Funeral Home in Bridgeport for four years. Ruben is an invaluable team member at Central Chapel serving in various helpful capacities. Art DePesa, Family Care Associate
Office Phone: 773-581-9000
Fax: 773-581-9095

A native Chicagoan, Art served his country in the U.S. Army, studied at the University of Heidelberg and spent the bulk of his career in key leadership roles serving as Administrator, Comptroller, and Director of Customer Service in the corporate sector. He’s lived in the Clearing neighborhood for 40 years where he is active at St. Symphorosa Church, as well as numerous civic organizations where he donates his time. Art’s first experience working in a funeral home was as a wake attendant at the Heinen and Loschetter Funeral Home. There he worked for Nicholas W. Loschetter, a legendary south side funeral director whose reputation as a perfectionist was rivaled only by his dedication to grieving families. In later years, Art worked as Office Manager and Chapel Attendant at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5800 W. 63rd St., until it closed 4 years ago, in part, due to the dilapidated condition of the building. More recently, Art worked as a Chapel Attendant at the Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home in Palos Hills which he found very rewarding except that he wanted to serve families at a funeral home in Clearing he’d be comfortable lending his expertise to. On joining the staff at Central Chapel, Art said, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the finest funeral directors and am delighted  to have a first class funeral home in Clearing, once again, where I can lend my experience and, hopefully, make a difference for families during the hardest of times.”
