CENTRAL CHAPEL and THOMAS McINERNEY'S SONS
Two fine firms join together
In April, 2019, CENTRAL CHAPEL and THOMAS McINERNEY'S SONS merged. Located on the south side at 46th Place and Wallace Street, McInerney's is the oldest funeral home in Chicago. The firm was established in 1873 and the community landmark "home for funerals" was built in 1893.

McInerney’s enjoys a well earned reputation for courteous service to generations of families.  Bob Moynihan brings the same commitment to distinctive and affordable service to McInerney’s that is the hallmark of his Central Avenue chapel, familiar to many area families that have relocated to the southwest side. Their funeral packages are among the most affordable and inclusive, in the city.

Recently McInerney Central Chapel, Thomas McInerney's Sons,
the oldest funeral home in Chicago,
was featured on NBC's Chicago Fire.

 "Bring out the lace curtains and call McInerney;
I'm nearing the end of my life's pleasant journey.
Send quick for the priest, just tell him I'm dying
my last minutes on earth so swiftly are flying.
Tell dear Father Dorney I'm meeting my maker
(He's losing his old collection up taker.)
Then pull down the shades and light up the candles
Call the O'Briens , the Casey's and Randall's.
The Murphys, the Burke's, the Brady's and all.
Tell them your darlin' has answered Gods call.
Call Schultz the fat butcher and order some meat;
Let watchers who sit through the night have a treat.
There's good Mrs. Smith who is sure to bring cake,
Please ask her advice in conducting my wake.
Bring out the lace curtains and call McInerney;
I'm nearing the end of my life's pleasant Journey."
